Monthly Meteorological Report for Ferny Grove, Brisbane in January 2021 – warm nights, cool days and near average rainfall

At Ferny Grove overnight temperatures were above average whilst daytime temperatures were below average and the lowest in 9 years. In the Brisbane area the official sites observed near average overnight temperatures at most sites and below average daytime temperatures at most sites. Rainfall at Ferny Grove was close to average. In the Brisbane area the official sites observed near average rainfall totals that were above average at some sites. At Ferny Grove air pressure was close to average, mean, mean minimum, and mean maximum relative humidity was close to average, mean minimum, mean maximum and mean dew point was above to average, wind speed was near average and there were 5 thunderstorms (8 thunder days).

 

Temperature – above average overnight and near average daytime temperatures

Monthly Mean Daily Minimum Temperature: 20 ºC, 0.6 ºC above average and 1.9 ºC lower than same month in 2020. This is the fifth lowest on record for January and the lowest since 19.1 ºC in 2018. Official sites in the Brisbane area observed mean minimum temperatures that were close to average at most sites and below average at some sites. Most sites observed mean minimum temperatures that were close to average that were within 0.5 ºC of the long term average and the highest mean minimum temperature was equal to the long term average at Cape Moreton Lighthouse (22 ºC) and Logan City Treatment Plant (20.7 ºC). Some sites measured below average mean minimum temperatures of up to 0.8 ºC below average at Redcliffe, with a mean minimum temperature of 21.5 ºC and was 0.7 ºC below average at Beaudesert (18.7 ºC). The lowest mean minimum temperature was 19.2 ºC at Amberley (0.4 ºC below average) and the highest mean minimum temperature was 22 ºC at Cape Moreton Lighthouse (equal to the long term average). Brisbane observed a mean minimum temperature of 21.3 and was 0.4 ºC below average.

 

Monthly Mean Daily Maximum Temperature: 30.3 ºC, 0.8 ºC below average and 2.7 ºC lower than same month in 2020. This is the third lowest on record for January and the lowest since 28.7 ºC in 2012. Mean maximum temperatures at most of the official sites in the Brisbane area were below average and was close to average at some of the inland sites. The highest mean maximum temperature observed was 31.7 ºC at Gatton and was equal to the long-term average. Several sites observed mean minimum temperatures that were near or over 1 ºC below average, with the greatest anomaly being 1.6 ºC below average at Beaudesert (30 ºC). In addition to Gatton, Archerfield was the only other site measuring a near average mean maximum temperature which was 0.4 ºC below average (30.1 ºC). Cape Moreton Lighthouse was 1 ºC above average with a mean maximum temperature of 28 ºC and was the lowest mean maximum temperature observed by the official sites. Brisbane observed a mean maximum temperature of 28.6 ºC and was 0.6 ºC below average.

 

Mean Monthly Temperature: 24.9 ºC, 0.7 ºC below average, 2.1 ºC lower than the same month in 2020. This is the equal second lowest on record for January and the equal lowest since 24.9 ºC in 2011.

 

Lowest Temperature: 16.6 ºC on 12 January 2021 at 4:49 AM. Same month in 2020 was 18.6 ºC. This is the second highest on record for January, the highest since the current record high of 18.6 ºC in 2010 on 29 January, the equal ninth lowest daily minimum temperature and the lowest since 16.1 ºC on 20 January 2018 at 5:05 AM. Official stations in the Brisbane area observed the lowest temperature of the month at many sites on the 11th and 12th and at some sites on the 9th,10th, 21st, 22nd and 24th. The lowest was 13.1 ºC at Canungra on the 12th and the highest was 19.8 ºC at Point Lookout on the 21st. In the Brisbane area there many cooler nights and especially between two periods and especially between the 9th and 15th. Brisbane observed its lowest temperature of 18.5 ºC on the 12th.

Highest Temperature: 36.6 ºC on 16 January 2021 at 12:57 PM. The same month in 2020 was 35.4 ºC. This is the fourth lowest monthly maximum temperature for January on record, the highest since 38 ºC in 2018 on 13 January at 1:43 PM, the equal tenth highest daily maximum temperature and the highest since 37.8 ºC on 14 January 2018 at 1:38 PM. The official sites measured the highest temperature for the month at most sites on the 6th and 16th and at some sites on the 5th and 30th. The lowest was 30 ºC at Cape Moreton Lighthouse on the 6th and the highest was 38.1 ºC at Gatton on the 16th. The highest temperature observed at Brisbane was 35.3 ºC on the 16th. During the month there were some above average maximum temperatures that mostly occurred on the 5th and 6th and on the 15th and 16th due to a trough drawing warm air from the north.

 

Lowest Daily Maximum Temperature: 22.7 ºC on 8 January 2021 at 10:01 AM. This is the second lowest monthly and daily lowest daily maximum temperature for January on record and the lowest since the current record low of 22.3 ºC in 2012 on 17 January at 1:20 PM. Same month in 2020 was 27.4 ºC. The official sites measured the coolest day of the month on the 8th at all sites. These ranged between 21.2ºC at Beerburrum and 23.3 ºC at Beaudesert. Brisbane observed 23.7 ºC on the 8th. The 8th was a particularly cold day with Brisbane Aero, Beerburrum and Point Lookout observing new record lows of daily maximum temperatures for January.

 

Highest Daily Minimum Temperature: 22.3 ºC on 28 January 2021 at 5:21 AM. This is the second lowest daily minimum temperature on record for January, the lowest since the current record high of 21.8 ºC in 2016 on 31 January 2020 at 4:55 AM, the twenty-fifth highest daily minimum temperature and the highest since 21.5 on 31 January 2021 at 12:00 AM. Same month in 2020 was 25.4 ºC. In the Brisbane area the warmest nights occurred on the 16th and 18th at many sites and on the 6th, 7th, 18th and 28th at some sites. These ranged between 21.8 ºC at Beerburrum on the 17th and 24.3 ºC at Cape Moreton on the 6th. As warm air was drawn south from the north, ahead of a surface trough, overnight temperatures between the 16th and 18th were above average. During the start of the month and at the end of the month were some above average temperatures.

 

Monthly Mean Minimum Grass Temperature: 18.2 ºC (2.4 ºC lower than same month in 2020).

 

Lowest Daily Minimum Grass Temperature: 13.2 ºC on 12 January 2021 (3.7 ºC lower than same month in 2020). This coincided with the lowest minimum air temperature of 16.6 ºC for the month.

 

Highest Daily Minimum Daily Grass Temperature: 21 ºC on 28 January 2021 (3.7 ºC lower than same month in 2020). This coincided with the highest minimum air temperature of 22.3 ºC for the month.

 

Highest Minimum Grass Temperature Depression: 3.4 ºC on 12 January 2021 with a minimum grass temperature of 13.2 ºC and an air temperature of 16.6 ºC.

 

Lowest Minimum Grass Temperature Depression: 0.3 ºC on 30 January 2021 with a minimum grass temperature of 20.1 ºC and an air temperature of 20.4 ºC.

 

In January minimum temperatures saw a number of slightly warm nights throughout the month accompanied with some below average temperature throughout much of the month. The 1st was equal to the long term average, cooled to 1 ºC below average on the 2nd before warming to 1 ºC above average on the 3rd to 7th. The 8th was close to average, cooling to 3 ºC below average on the 9th, was 2 ºC below average on the 9th and 2 ºC below average on the 10th and 11th. The 12th was 4 ºC below average, 3 ºC below average on the 13th and 1 ºC above average on the 14th. On the 15th it was 2 ºC below average, 2 ºC below average on the 16th, 1 ºC above average on the 17th and 2 ºC above average on the 18th. On the 19th it was 2 ºC below average, 1 ºC above average on the 20th, 1 ºC below average on the 21st, 4 ºC below average on the 22nd and 3 ºC below average on the 23rd. The 24th was 4 ºC below average, easing to near average on the 25th and cooled to 3 ºC below average on the 26th and 1 ºC below average on the 27th. On the 28th the temperature rose to 2 ºC above average, was 1 ºC above average on the 29th, was near average on the 30th and 1 ºC above average on the 31st.

 

Maximum temperatures in January were predominately below average that saw very few warm days during the month. The 1st was 2 ºC below average, 1 ºC below average on the 2nd to 4th, before warming to 3 ºC above average on the 5th and to 4 ºC above average on the 6th. The 7th was 3 ºC below average, cooling to 8 ºC below average on the 8th, eased to 6 ºC below average on the 9th and to 3 ºC below average on the 10th. On the 11th and 12th, it was 2 ºC below average, close to average on the 13th and 1 ºC above average on the 14th. The 15th was 2 ºC above average, warmed to 6 ºC above average on the 16th, cooled to 1 ºC below average on the 17th and was near average on the 18th. The 19th was 2 ºC above average, eased to 3 ºC below average on the 20th, 4 ºC below average on the 21st and was 2 ºC below average on the 22nd. The 23rd was 1 ºC below average, near average on the 24th, 1 ºC below average on the 25th and 1 ºC above average on the 26th and 27th. After near average temperature on the 28th it cooled to 1 ºC below average on the 29th, was near average on the 30th and 2 ºC below average on the 31st.

Monthly Mean Daily Minimum MSL Pressure: 1010.3 hPa (equal to same month in 2020). This is the equal fourth highest on record for January and the equal lowest since 1009.3 hPa in 2018.

 

Monthly Mean Daily Maximum MSL Pressure: 1014.3 hPa (0.1 hPa higher than same month in 2020). This is the sixth highest on record for January and the highest since 1016.8 hPa in 2019.

 

Monthly Mean MSL Pressure: 1012.3 hPa (0.1 hPa below average, equal to same month in 2020). This is the equal fifth highest on record for January and the lowest since 1011.6 hPa in 2018.

Lowest MSL Pressure: 1005.1 hPa on 16 January 2021 at 12:56 PM. The same month in 2020 saw 1002.3 hPa. This is the third highest monthly minimum air pressure for January, the highest since the current record high of 1010.1 hPa in 2019 on 23 January at 4:44 PM, the thirtieth highest daily minimum air pressure for January and highest since 1019.5 hPa in 2015 on 20 January at 3:26 PM.

 

Highest MSL Pressure: 1019.2 hPa on 20 January 2021 at 9:45 PM. The same month in 2020 saw 1018.4 hPa. This is the third lowest January monthly maximum air pressure, the seventeenth highest daily maximum air pressure for January and the highest since 1019.5 hPa in 2019 on 20 January at 8:27 AM.

Note: Air pressure measurements are being closely monitored to maintain its accuracy. Over the month of January, a difference of 0.11 hPa lower compared to the official BoM Brisbane site – No. 040913 was observed which is deemed as being optimum.

 

Relative Humidity – close to average mean humidity, mean minimum humidity, and mean maximum humidity

Monthly Mean Daily Minimum Humidity: 54.1 % (3 % higher than same month in 2020 and 1.2 % above average). This is the fifth highest on record for January and the highest since 58.2 % in 2015.

 

Monthly Mean Daily Maximum Humidity: 93.9 % (4.2 % higher than same month in 2020 and 2.8 % above average). This is the third highest on record for January and the highest since 95.3% in 2015.

 

Monthly Mean Humidity: 74 % (3.6% higher than same month in 2020 and 2 % above average). This is the fifth highest on record for January and the highest since 76.7 % in 2015.

 

Lowest Humidity: 39 % on 24 January 2021 at 2:01 PM (7 % higher than this month in 2020). This is the fifth highest monthly minimum humidity for January on record, the highest since 41 % in 2017 on 24 January at 1:05 PM, the equal twelfth lowest daily minimum humidity for January and the lowest since 32% on 10 January 2020 at 12:17 AM.

 

Highest Humidity: 98 % on 2 January 2021 at 2:08 AM (equal to this month in 2020). This is the third highest monthly January maximum humidity on record and the equal highest since 99% in 2018 on 1 January at 6:39 AM.

 

Dew point – near average mean, mean minimum and mean maximum dew point

Monthly mean daily minimum dew point: 17.7 ºC (0.5 ºC below average). This is the fifth lowest monthly mean minimum dew point for January on record and the lowest since 16.9 ºC in 2019.

 

Monthly mean daily maximum dew point: 21.7 ºC (0 ºC above or below average). This is the sixth highest and lowest mean maximum dew point for January and the lowest since 18.9 ºC in 2019.

Monthly mean dew point: 19.7 ºC (0.3 ºC above average). This is the fourth lowest monthly mean dew point for January and the lowest since 20.9 ºC in 2019.

 

Lowest dew point: 14.4 ºC on 24 January 2021 at 2:01 PM. This is the sixth lowest monthly minimum dew point for January on record, the twentieth lowest daily dew point for January and the lowest since 10.3 ºC in 2019 on 28 January at 11:49 AM.

 

Highest dew point: 25.5 ºC on 17 January 2021 at 12:12 PM. This is the fifth highest monthly maximum dew point on record for January, the highest since 26.1 C in 2018 on 1 January at 2:07 PM, the tenth highest daily dew point on record for January and the highest since 25.7 ºC on 21 January 2020 at 1:36 PM.

 

Wind Speed – near average wind speed

Maximum Wind Gust: 35 km/hr on 18 January 2021 at 9:29 AM. This is the lowest monthly January maximum wind gust on record exceeding the previous record low of 37 km/hr in 2019 on 27 January at 3:16 PM, the equal forty-second highest daily wind gust for January and the highest since 42 km/hr on 23 January 2020 at 11:35 AM.

 

Maximum Wind Speed: 18 km/hr on 18 January 2021 at 6:23 PM (Moderate Force Wind). This is the lowest monthly maximum wind speed for January on record, exceeding the previous record low of 19 km/hr in 2019 on 27 January at 3:16 PM, the fifty-seventh highest daily wind speed for January and the equal highest since 24 km/hr in 2019 on 23 January at 11:45 AM.

 

Wind Run: 4155.2 km (1070.4 km lower than same month in 2020), 103.2 km below average and 1.3 % below average. This is the third highest on record for January total wind run and the lowest since 1384.5 km in 2018.

 

Monthly Mean Wind Speed: 2.1 km/hr (3.4 km/hr lower than this month in 2020), 1.6 km/hr below the long term average). This is the fourth highest on record for January and the lowest since 1.9 km/hr in 2018.

 

Daily Mean Maximum Wind Gust: 25.2 km/hr (3.3 km/hr lower than this month in 2020), 1.2 km/hr above average and 14.2% above average. This is the second lowest daily mean maximum wind gust on record for January and the lowest since 23.1 km/hr in 2012.

 

Daily Mean Maximum Wind Speed: 12.5 km/hr, 3.2 km/hr lower than this month in 2020), 3 km/hr above average and 37.7 % above average. This is the second lowest on record for January and lowest since the current record low of 12.4 km/hr in 2012.

 

Dominant Direction: E (NE this month last year).

 

Rainfall – above average rainfall

Monthly Rainfall Total: 95.8 mm (4.2 mm above average) and 66.1% of the long-term average. This total is in decile 9/ 82nd percentile which ranks as average and 28.2 mm below the long-term median (75.8 % of long term median). This total is lower than this month in 2020 which was 183.3 mm, the fourteenth highest on record for January and the lowest since 62 mm in 2018.

 

Most of the long period rainfall totals continue to remain below or well below average that reduced in January. As compared to the previous month the 6 monthly rainfall worsened a little to 74.7 mm below average (decile 4). 9 monthly rainfall dropped from 52.7 mm below average to 153.5 mm below average (decile 2), and 12 month rainfall remained in the positive but slipped by 86 mm to 8.2 mm above average (remaining at decile 6). 18 month deteriorated significantly from 529.5 mm above average (decile 8) to 150.4 mm below average (decile 3). 24 monthly rainfall improved from the previous month from 366.1 mm below average to 163.9 mm below average (remaining at decile 3), while 36 month rainfall fell significantly from 364 mm above average (decile 8) to 442.6 below average (decile 3). 48 monthly rainfall improved from 156.7 mm below average to 68.8 mm below average (decile 4). Compared with the same period in the previous year most of these periods have improved except for 36 month rainfall falling from 124.6 mm above average to 442.6 mm below average.

 

Most of the official sites in the Brisbane area observed near average or above average rainfall totals. The exception to this was Archerfield that observed the lowest fraction of the long term average of 45% and the lowest total of the main official sites of 60.6 mm. Many of the sites observed rainfall that historically ranked as average that were between 63% of the long term average at Brisbane with a total of 86.6 mm and 120 % of the long term average at Beaudesert (173.8 mm). Two sites observed totals that ranked historically as high being 132 % of the long term average at Amberley (152.6 mm) and 132 % of the long term average at Cape Moreton Lighthouse (193.8 mm). The highest rainfall total of all the official sites was 281.3 mm at Caloundra Airport.

 

In the Brisbane area were showers and thunderstorms in the first 10 days of the month as a result of surface troughs and moist onshore flow. On the evening of the 6th were thunderstorms with moderate to heavy falls, with some locations observing daily rainfall totals in excess of 70 mm in the 24 hours to 9am the nest day. On the evening of the 18th were severe thunderstorms which brought heavy rainfall and flash flooding around some eastern suburbs.

 

Number of Rain Days (0.1 mm or greater): 19 days, 4 greater than same month in 2020 and 1.9 days below average. This is second highest on record for January and is the highest since 22 days in 2015.

 

Highest Daily Total: 30.1 mm on 19 January 2021. This is the sixteenth highest on record for January, the lowest since 4.4 mm in 2019 on 4 January, the thirty-seventh highest daily total for January and the highest since 90.9 mm on 18 January 2020. The highest daily total in the Brisbane area of all official sites was 190.6 mm at Redland on the 19th.

 

Monthly Rainfall Total – (automatic gauge) 24 hours to 9am: 87.8 mm (8 mm less than the site official standard gauge and within 8.4 %). Highest daily total of automatic gauge, (24 hours to 9am): 28.8 mm on 19 January 2021, (24 hours from midnight): 28 mm on 18 January 2021.

 

Note: This automatic gauge for the month of January, reached the expected accuracy (of +/- 10% of the standard gauge) at -8.4%.

 

Light showers in the early hours and early morning of the 1st brought 1.3 mm. A light to moderate shower in the mid-morning with brief heavy falls, then some light to moderate showers in the afternoon, followed by light showers from early on the 2nd brought 6.8 mm. A brief light shower in the evening brought 0.4 mm on the 3rd and 0.7 mm on the 4th from a light shower in the early morning and another in the mid-morning on the 4th. A thundery shower and a light shower from a decaying thunderstorm in the afternoon of the 5th, with 1 mm observed on the 6th. In the early evening of the 6th was a light shower followed by thundery rain and 7.4 mm was measured on the 7th. In the evening of the 7th were light showers and drizzle and light rain in the early morning on the 8th, followed by drizzle and light rain from the morning, more frequent in the evening. On the 9th was light showers in the early hours and early morning with 0.9 mm measured on the 8th and 9 mm on the 9th. From the late morning there were some brief light showers, followed by some light showers early on the 10th that brought 1mm on the 10th. Some light showers in the early afternoon with 0.5 mm measured on the 11th.

 

On the 16th was a nearby thunderstorm in the mid-afternoon, a light few drops in the late afternoon from another nearby thunderstorm and a moderate to heavy shower in the early evening with heavy falls of 8 mm in 6 minutes. 29.5 mm was observed on the 17th. On the 18th was an early afternoon light to moderate shower, light showers from the late afternoon and was moderate at times with lighter falls later in the evening, with some thunder. After some light showers cleared early on the 19th there was a total of 30.1 mm measured on the 19th. A brief light shower in the late afternoon of the 24th and light showers in the early hours and in the morning of the 25th brought 1.9 mm on the 25th and 1 mm on the 26th. In the late evening of the 27th was a brief light shower and in the early to mid-morning of the 28th with 1.4 mm measured. 1 mm on the 29th from a light shower in the early hours of the 29th and 0.2 mm on the 30th after a light few drops in the late afternoon of the 29th and a brief light shower in the early hours of the 30th. On the 31st there was 1.4 mm from light showers from early. Later in the morning was a light to moderate shower.

 

There was 2 days with falls of at least 25 mm (equal to the same month in 2020) with 10 days of less than 1 mm (7 greater than same month in 2020).

 

Highest rainfall rate was 145.8 mm/hr on the 16 January 2021 at 7:20 PM. This is the third highest monthly rainfall rate for January on record, the lowest since 48.6 mm/hr in 2019 on 7 January at 6:36 AM, the fourth highest daily maximum rain rate for January and the highest since 167 mm/hr on 19 January 2020 at 11:59 AM.

 

The highest hourly rainfall total was 27.6 mm on the 16 January 2021 at 7:49 PM. This is the fourth highest hourly rain for January on monthly and daily basis and the lowest since 2.8 mm in 2019 on 4 January at 1:20 AM.

Severe thunderstorms of note in the Brisbane area: The Bureau reported that: “Widespread thunderstorms activity brought heavy falls to south-east Queensland on the 18th. Flash flooding occurred in and around suburbs of Alexandra Hills, Birkdale, Thornside, Capalaba, Upper Coomera, Willow Vale and Ormeau Hills. Redland (Alexandra Hills) reported 120 mm in one hour. The SES had around 205 requests for assistance, mainly around flash flooding. QFES responded to 12 swift water rescue incidents, mainly for vehicles driving through flooded roads.”

 

Remarks for month

• Cloudy on the 1st with some showers with the temperature rather variable and the relative humidity variable and high during the day.
• The temperature was rather variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon on the 3rd.
• Increasing cloud became cloudy on the 4th and 5th.
• Cloudy early on the 6th and in the afternoon along with a S to SE wind change in the evening.
• Cloudy on the 7th.
• On the 8th it was cloudy, and the temperature rose slowly in the morning reaching the maximum temperature in the late morning before falling during the rest of day and became very cold in the late morning and was cold in the afternoon. Relative humidity was high from the late morning to the mid-afternoon.
• Cold in the morning and afternoon and was cloudy during the 9th. The temperature was rather variable from the late morning to the mid-afternoon.
• Later in the early hours on the 10th the temperature stopped falling and rose before the temperature was variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon that rose rather slowly.
• Variable temperature in the early hours of the 11th and the maximum temperature was reached in the late morning as the temperature fell a little in the afternoon.
• On the 13th the temperature rose slowly during the day and was variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon.
• Mostly sunny on the 14th and the temperature was variable from the mid-morning to the early afternoon.
• Sunny on the 15th.
• Mostly sunny early on the 16th becoming cloudy in the afternoon with 2 nearby thunderstorms and a brief heavy shower in the early evening. The temperature rose steadily during the day becoming hot from the late morning. The temperature fell quickly in the afternoon as the cloud increased, which after temporarily rising fell quickly due to the nearby thunderstorm. Later in the afternoon the temperature fell slowly before stabilising in the evening.
• Cloudy with rainfall in the afternoon of the 18th.
• Haze in the morning, was cloudy at times and the temperature was variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon of the 20th.
• Cloudy at times on the 21st with the temperature rising rather slowly during the day and was variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon.
• Variable temperature from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon of the 22nd that rose and fell many times.
• Cloudy periods in the afternoon of the 24th with the temperature variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon
• Cloudy in the morning of the 25th with the temperature rather variable during the morning.
• Variable temperature from the md-morning to the mid-afternoon on the 26th and 29th.
• Cloudy periods on the 31st.
• 1 day of dew – light: 13th.

 

Weather influences

• On the 1st a high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extended a firm ridge along the southern Queensland coast.
• A weak ridge of high pressure extended along the east Queensland coast as the high-pressure system shifted further east in the 2nd to 4th.
• On the 5th a surface trough shifted eastwards over southern and western parts of the state extending some instability into the region.
• A surface trough shifted through the southern and south-eastern parts of the state on the 6th, clearing the south-east later in the day. This brought instability and a south-easterly wind change with its passage.
• Behind the trough on the 7th a high-pressure system over the Great Australian Bight extended a ridge, with moist onshore winds along the east Queensland coast.
• On the 8th the high pressure system remained slow moving in the Great Australian Bight, moved further east on the 9th and into the Tasman Sea on the 10th. This maintained a ridge along the east Queensland coast and moist onshore winds.
• On the 11th to 13th the high pressure system in the Tasman Sea extended a ridge along the southern and central Queensland coast and extended moist onshore winds.
• On the 14th the high pressure ridge remained in place that was started to decay along the southern and central coasts with onshore flow easing.
• The weak ridge of high pressure remained along the southern and central Queensland coast from a high pressure system near New Zealand on the 15th. A surface trough shifted eastwards across the state extending warm northerly flow across to its east.
• On the 16th a surface trough shifted eastwards over the state that extended from the northwest to the southeast that cleared the southeast that was followed by a south-easterly wind change. This brought instability with and ahead of the surface trough.
• The surface trough contracted into the southeast inland on the 17th and remained over northwest and central Queensland which continued to bring instability to the region.
• On the 18th the surface trough shifted eastwards and into the southeast and some instability. A high-pressure system in the Tasman Sea extended a weak ridge along the east Queensland coast.
• On the 19th the surface trough shifted slightly westward into the southeast inland while remaining further north. This maintained instability, while a weak ridge remained in place along the southern and central Queensland coasts.
• The surface trough shifted to shift westwards on the 20th with the southern end of the trough moving into the southern inland as a new high-pressure system moving east over south-eastern Australia extended a ridge along the southern and central coasts. Some instability however remained over the region.
• On the 21st to 25th the high pressure system moved into the Tasman Sea maintaining a ridge along the east Queensland coast with moist onshore winds.
• On the 26th and 27th the high pressure system weakened with the high pressure ridge along the east Queensland coast decaying as a result.
• A new high pressure system moved into the Tasman Sea and extended a firm ridge of high pressure along the east Queensland coast on the 28th.
• On the 29th to 31st the high pressure system in the Tasman Sea shifted eastwards and extended a ridge along the east Queensland coast with moist onshore winds.

 

Daily weather notes

• 1/1/21: Cloudy periods with Cu and Sc clouds. Light showers in the early hours and early morning, a light to moderate shower in the mid-morning with briefly heavy falls, and some light to moderate showers in the afternoon. Near average temperature from early with the temperature stable during much of the early hours. In the mid-morning, the temperature temporarily stopped rising and fell a little before rising again following the shower and became slightly cool. From the late morning the temperature became cool until the late afternoon, as the maximum temperature was reached in the middle of the day and generally fell during the afternoon and was quite variable during the day. During the evening, the temperature became near average while falling steadily. Dew point rose from early and remained near average that then fell very slowly during the day, before falling a little more quickly later in the evening. Relative humidity was near average or slightly below average in the early hours becoming moderately high from the mid-morning after the relative humidity rose sharply for a brief period with the rainfall, was moderately high or high during the day and was rather variable that rose and fell several times and was slightly above average in the evening while slowly rising. Mostly light SSW to SSE winds backed in the morning to SE to NE, E to SE winds later in the morning, tended to E to NE in the afternoon with some NNE winds, then ENE to ESE winds from later in the afternoon and then calm later in the evening.
• 2/1/21: Light showers in the early hours and in the early to mid-morning. A brief light shower in the early evening. Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds. Near average temperature from early, that stopped rising in the mid-morning, which then fell before rising during the rest of the morning becoming slightly cool in the mid-morning and cool later in the morning. In the afternoon, the temperature was slightly cool while rising and returned to near average in the evening. Dew point was near average that rose from early, then fell a little during the morning, became stable from mid-morning but was rather variable, while remaining near average. Relative humidity was near average from early, became moderately high in the morning when the relative humidity stopped falling and rose a little. In the afternoon, the relative humidity eased a little to slightly above average and to near average in the evening. Calm winds early became WSW to SSE during the rest of the early hours with some calm winds, E to SE winds in the morning became NNE to E later in the morning, N to NE in the early afternoon and E to NE from the mid-afternoon. In the evening there were some SE to NE winds, N to NW later in the evening and with some calm winds.
• 3/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds. Slightly warm early in the day with the temperature stable, returned to near average from the morning until the early evening except for slightly cool temperature in the early afternoon as the temperature temporarily fell before rising again and returned to near average. The temperature was rather variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. Close to average dew point over the entire day that was stable in the early hours and in the early morning, that fell a little in the morning, then rose a little in the late morning and early afternoon, rose very slowly in the afternoon and became generally stable from the late afternoon. Relative humidity was near average during much of the early hours, became slightly below average later in the early hours and in the early morning while falling and easing to near average later this morning, became slightly above average in the early to mid-afternoon after the relative humidity generally rose in the afternoon before returning to near average during the rest of the day. Light N to NNW winds at the start of the day was followed by S to SW winds at times in the rest of the early hours with calm winds mostly before light and variable winds in the early morning that tended to N to NE. From the mid-morning the wind was E to NE winds with some ESE and N to NE winds, becoming NNE to ENE from the early afternoon, NNE to NE during the evening with some N winds before some calm winds later in the evening.
• 4/1/21: Partly cloudy becoming cloudy with Cu, Sc and Ci clouds. A light shower in the early morning and another in the mid-morning. Slightly warm in the early hours while the temperature fell slowly and became stable, then near average in the morning and became slightly cool in the afternoon with the temperature generally stable from the late morning to the mid-afternoon while rising and falling several times. From the late afternoon the temperature was near average. Stable and near average dew point early in the day, rose a little early in the morning, became stable during the rest of the morning and in the afternoon, fell slightly in the early evening before stabilising during the rest of the evening. Relative humidity was slightly below average in the early hours, returned to near average in the early morning before becoming slightly above average or moderately high in the morning and afternoon, that stopped falling in the late morning became generally stable before easing to near average in the evening. Mostly calm winds early in the day, then NW to NE winds in the morning, N to NE winds in the mid-morning became NNE to E and N to NE winds from the late morning. In the afternoon, the wind became E to NE, then N to NE winds in the evening, followed by N to NNW winds before calm winds later in the evening.
• 5/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds increasing in the afternoon with Ac, Ci, As and Cb clouds. A thundery shower and a light shower from a decaying thunderstorm. Slightly warm in the early hours with the temperature generally rising slowly. In the morning, the temperature became warm while the temperature rose quickly, became generally stable while rising a few times from the late morning to the mid-afternoon and eased to slightly warm in the afternoon. From the mid-afternoon the temperature fell quickly and returned to near average, became briefly cool later in the afternoon and was stable and slightly warm in the evening. Dew point was close to average that rose slowly from early, became slightly above average in the afternoon, then became stable from the mid-afternoon while rising and falling slightly during the rest of the afternoon and in the early evening. Relative humidity was near average and stable in the early hours before becoming slightly below average in the morning, became near average from the late morning before increasing in the afternoon and became high in the mid-afternoon. Later in the afternoon the relative humidity rose to moderately high and to near average late in the evening. Calm winds early were followed by N to NW winds, then N to NE that became E to NE in the mid-morning and light and variable winds that became E to ENE later in the morning. Winds became NNW to NE from the mid-afternoon, before calm winds at times with some S to SW winds and W to NW winds at times.
• 6/1/21: Cloudy early with Cu, Sc and As clouds clearing to partly cloudy day with Cu and Sc clouds before increasing in the afternoon with Ac, Ci and Cb clouds. A light shower followed by thundery rain in the early evening was followed by light rain later in the evening. Slightly warm from early with the temperature rising a little in the early hours, eased to near average in the late afternoon as the temperature fell from the mid-afternoon. The temperature became slightly warm and stable in the early evening, fell with the rain, then fell more slowly later in the evening and became stable and returned to near average. After a brief fall at the start of the day the dew point was stable and near average from early, rose in the morning and became slightly above average, became stable from the mid-morning, fell slowly in the afternoon, and became generally stable early in the evening. The dew point fell a little with the rain and returned to near average before stabilising later in the evening. Relative humidity was near average and slightly below average at times later in the early hours and in the early morning. In the evening, the relative humidity became slightly above average while generally rising from the late afternoon before stabilising later in the evening. Some light S to SW winds in the first few hours of the day before calm winds, then S to WSW in the early morning before gradually backing during the morning to N to NE winds with some N to NE winds from the late morning. The wind veered in the early evening with a S to SE wind change before mostly S to SW winds later in the evening.
• 7/1/21: Cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds. Light showers in the evening. The temperature was stable or rose slowly in the early hours close to average, became slightly warm later in the early hours before easing to near average in the early morning. Slightly cool in the morning, became cool from the late morning as the temperature stabilised later in the morning and after rising a little in the afternoon the temperature remained cool before easing to slightly cool from the late afternoon. In the evening, the temperature became generally stable after falling later in the afternoon and early in the evening close to average. Near average and stable dew point from early, rose slightly in the morning, fell slowly from the mid-morning, a little more quickly in the afternoon before falling slowly in the evening. Relative humidity was near average early in the day that became slightly below average later in the early hours as the relative humidity fell slowly, became moderately high in the morning easing to slightly above or near average in the afternoon, rose quickly for a brief period in the early evening before easing to near average later in the evening. The temperature became slightly warm later in the early hours while the temperature rose slowly while the temperature rose slowly in the early hours. The temperature became slightly cool in the morning to very cold later in the morning as the temperature rose slowly in the morning to the maximum temperature in the late morning. After this the temperature fell slowly, remained cold until the late afternoon before falling more quickly in the evening and eased to cool in the early evening and to slightly cool in the late evening. Dew point fell slowly in the early hours, rose slowly in the morning close to average becoming slightly below average from the mid-morning to the late afternoon, though was briefly near average later in the morning being generally stable in the morning and afternoon. In the evening, the dew point was near average and fell slightly. Relative humidity eased from near average at the start of the day to moderately low in the early morning as the relative humidity fell. During the day, the relative humidity was a little variable but generally rose in the morning and afternoon becoming high from the late morning to the mid-afternoon and slightly above average or moderately high from the late afternoon. Light S to SSW winds at the start of the day became S to SE, S to SW early this morning and S to SE winds in the morning and afternoon, E to SE early in the evening before light S to SSW winds during the rest of the evening.

Stable or falling slowly temperature in the early hours and was slightly cool before rising in the morning and became cold until the late afternoon. The temperature was rather variable from the late morning to the mid-afternoon. From the late morning the temperature stopped rising and became generally stable, while rising and falling a few times. While the temperature fell from the late afternoon the temperature steadily shifted closer to average reached near average late in the evening. Dew point fell slowly in the early hours, rose a little in the early morning close to average or slightly below average. From the mid-morning the dew point was mostly slightly below average and also in the afternoon, though was near average at times in the morning. From the mid-morning to the early afternoon the dew point was generally stable, fell a little in the afternoon before becoming stable from the mid-afternoon. At the end of the day the dew point rose a little and returned to near average. Relative humidity was near average early and became moderately high in the morning while falling slowly, which stopped falling later in the morning and became generally stable. In the afternoon, the relative humidity eased to slightly above average and to near average in the evening. In the late evening, the relative humidity became slightly below average after the relative humidity temporarily stopped rising. The minimum temperature was reached halfway through the early hours and then rose during the rest of the early hours close to average, became cool from the mid-morning as the temperature rose rather slowly and was variable until the mid-afternoon. The temperature was temporarily cool in the early afternoon, remained cool during the rest of the afternoon and eased to slightly cool from the late afternoon. Dew point was generally stable but variable in the early hours, rose a little in the morning and became stable from the morning close to average, rose slowly in the afternoon before falling from the mid-afternoon and became slightly below average. After falling early in the evening, the dew point rose a little and then fell slowly later in the evening while remaining slightly below average. Relative humidity was generally slightly below average in the early hours after falling in the second half of the early hours and returned to near average in the morning. Relative humidity became slightly above average later in the morning and moderately high in the early afternoon after the relative humidity fell slowly in the morning and then rose and fell a few times in the early afternoon. During the rest of the afternoon the relative humidity was stable and eased to slightly above average in the mid-afternoon and to near average in the late afternoon. • 16/1/21: Mostly sunny with Cu and Sc clouds, becoming cloudy with Cu, Sc, Ci and Cb clouds in the afternoon. A light shower later in the early hours. A nearby thunderstorm in the mid-afternoon and a light few drops in the late afternoon from another nearby thunderstorm. A moderate to heavy shower in the early evening, with heavy falls of 8 mm in 6 minutes. Slightly warm from early in the day, as the temperature fell slowly in the early hours, rose steadily during the morning and early afternoon, and became warm in the mid-morning and hot from the late morning. As clouds increased in the afternoon the temperature temporarily fell quickly in the afternoon and eased to slightly warm. After falling 4 C, the temperature started to rise again, while remaining below the earlier maximum temperature, before falling quickly in the mid-afternoon under increasing cloud from the nearby storm and became cool. During the rest of the afternoon the temperature was stable and was cool easing to slightly cool in the late afternoon. The temperature fell slowly in the evening close to average. Dew point was stable in the early hours, and rose slightly in the morning close to average, became stable from the late morning, briefly rose in the early afternoon before generally stabilising slightly above average. The dew point fell slightly with the mid-afternoon nearby storm, easing to near average, rose slowly later in the afternoon, became stable in the early evening slightly above average before falling slowly while returning to near average. Relative humidity was slightly below average from early, becoming moderately low in the late morning and early afternoon as the relative humidity fell from the morning. In the early afternoon, the relative humidity rose and returned to near average before stabilising, rising again before, with and following the nearby mid-afternoon storm and became moderately high. In the late afternoon, the relative humidity became high while rising, easing during the evening to near average in the late afternoon as the relative humidity rose slowly in the early evening and fell slowly in the late evening. Light NNW to W winds at times in the early hours and otherwise calm winds, then N to NW winds at times, N to WNW winds in the morning, tending SSW to NW from the late morning before shifting to E to NE in the early afternoon becoming ENE to NE before veering to E to SE with a wind change at 3:15pm. Light E to ESE winds followed, N to NE from the late afternoon, became SSW to WSW with the evening shower, backed to E to SE until the shower ended before SSE to ESE winds and then S to ESE winds during the rest of the evening, with some calm winds.
• 17/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds. Near average temperature at the start of the day became slightly warm with the temperature stable or fell slowly in the early hours. Near average temperature in the morning and near average or slightly cool from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon while the temperature was a little variable. From the late afternoon the temperature was near average before becoming slightly warm in the early evening and to warm in the evening while the temperature stabilised later in the evening. Dew point was near average while falling in the early hours, became stable in the morning, fell from the late morning, became slightly below average in the early afternoon before rising in the afternoon and evening while eased to near average and to slightly above average later in the evening. Relative humidity fell from early in the day reducing from near average early in the day to slightly below average during the rest of the early hours and this morning and eased to near average in the morning. The temperature rose rather slowly from the mid-morning and stabilised or fell slowly in the afternoon with the temperature variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. Slightly cool in the mid-morning became cool from later in the morning and in the afternoon. As the temperature fell more quickly later in the afternoon the temperature returned to near average in the evening. Dew point was stable in the early hours, rose slightly in the morning, became stable from the mid-morning and was close to average before becoming slightly below average from the late morning as the dew point fell slowly. The dew point became stable from the late morning and was a little variable late in the evening while remaining slightly below average. Relative humidity was slightly below average from early, with the relative humidity rising slowly in the early hours and fell quickly in the early morning. Light SSW to SSE winds with some SE winds in the early hours and in the early morning, becoming SSE to E in the mid-morning and SE to ENE later in the morning. In the afternoon were E to SE winds, E to NE from the mid-morning becoming E to SE in the evening with some calm winds before calm winds later in the evening.
• 22/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds and Ci clouds in the afternoon. Slightly cool from early and became near average in the morning and was slightly cool from the late morning and returned to near average from the late afternoon. Variable temperature from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon that rose and fell many times. Slightly below average dew point from early that fell in the early hours, rose in the morning, became generally stable from the mid-morning, rose slightly in the afternoon and becoming stable in the evening. Slightly below average relative humidity temporarily became moderately low for a period in the early morning as the relative humidity fell quickly in the morning. From the mid-morning the relative humidity stopped falling quickly and was slightly below average from the mid-morning except for a brief period of near average relative humidity in the mid-afternoon. Calm winds early became SSW to WSW and then backed to E to NE in the morning, became NNW to NE winds later in the morning with some variable winds, E to NE winds in the afternoon with some N to NE winds, ENE to ENE from the mid-afternoon, N to NE in early evening before calm winds later in the evening.
• 23/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu, Sc and Ci clouds. Near average temperature during the entire day. The temperature was a little variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. Dew point was generally stable in the early hours slightly below average, then rose a little in the early to mid-morning before falling slowly in the morning. In the afternoon, the dew point became slightly below average while generally falling slowly, rose slightly in the late afternoon while easing to near average before stable and near average dew point in the evening. Relative humidity was slightly below average from early and was briefly moderately low in the early morning. Relative humidity was slightly below average in the morning and afternoon that stopped falling quickly from the mid-morning and fell slowly through to the mid-afternoon. In the evening, the relative humidity was near average or slightly below average. Calm winds early before light SE to SW winds in the morning, ESE to NE from the mid-morning becoming NNE to E. Light ESE to ENE winds from the mid-afternoon, ENE to NE in the late afternoon and early evening before mostly calm winds during the rest of the evening.
• 24/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds and cloudy periods in the afternoon. A brief light shower in the late afternoon. Slightly cool in the early hours and at times in the early morning. Near average temperature from the morning with the temperature variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. In the mid to late afternoon the temperature became slightly cool as the temperature fell quickly in the mid-afternoon and again in the late afternoon. In the evening, the temperature returned to near average. Dew point fell in the early hours slightly below average, rose in the morning and eased to near average before falling a little later in the morning though was variable while easing to slightly below average. In the early afternoon, the dew point was stable before briefly falling sharply that then rose in the mid-afternoon while returning to near average. Later in the afternoon the dew point slowly rose before stabilising in the evening. Slightly below average relative humidity from early in the day until the mid-afternoon that fell quickly in the morning and stabilised in the late morning and early afternoon. The relative humidity rose in the afternoon and became slightly above average from the mid-afternoon before easing to near average in the evening. Calm winds early, light S to SW winds in the early morning, ESE to NE winds from the mid-morning, E to NE in the afternoon, N to NE early in the evening before light NNW to W winds followed by mostly calm winds later in the evening.
• 25/1/21: Cloudy in the morning and partly cloudy from the late morning with Cu and Sc clouds. Light showers in the early hours and in the morning. Mostly stable temperature in the early hours that was near average, became slightly warm later in the early hours before easing to near average in the morning. The temperature became slightly cool in the morning as the temperature was rather variable in the morning, that rose and fell several times while generally rising. In the late morning, the temperature became cool, was slightly cool in the afternoon that was rather variable before near average temperature from the late afternoon. Dew point was stable that rose slightly in the early hours, rose slightly in the early morning before becoming rising slowly in the morning close to average. In the afternoon and evening the dew point fell slowly but was stable in the early evening. Relative humidity rose slowly in the early hours close to average, then fell slowly in the morning and became moderately high, while falling very little in the morning. In the late morning, the relative humidity temporarily rose and fell before falling in the afternoon while easing to near average. In the evening, the relative humidity was near average and slightly below average in the early evening. Calm winds early with some light and variable winds at times in the early hours, light NNW to WNW winds in the morning with some W to NW winds and E to NE winds, N to ENE in the afternoon, NNE to NE from the late afternoon before becoming NW to NNE early in the evening that was followed by calm winds.
• 26/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds. Slightly cool in the early hours and near average from the morning. The temperature was variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. Dew point fell slowly in the early hours from near average to slightly below average, rose in the early morning while returning to near average. In the morning, the dew point was stable, fell in the late morning, became slightly below average in the early afternoon while slowly rising in the afternoon close to average. In the evening, the dew point was near average and generally stable. Relative humidity was near average while rising slowly in the early hours before becoming slightly below average in the morning and afternoon before returning to near average from the late afternoon. Calm winds early, then SE to NE early in the morning with some variable winds before NNW to ENE winds later in the morning with some NNW to NNE winds, E to NE in the early afternoon, then ENE to NNE in the mid-afternoon before E to NE later in the afternoon. In the evening, the wind was ENE to NE and then NNW to NNE before calm winds later in the evening.

Near average temperature from early becoming slightly warm in the mid-morning before easing to near average during the rest of the daytime as the temperature rose more slowly during the remainder of the morning and in the afternoon. In the evening, the temperature fell a little slowly and became slightly warm. Near average dew point from early that fell in the early hours, rose in the morning, rose more slowly from the mid-morning becoming slightly above average from the late morning, was stable in the afternoon, fell slightly in the late afternoon before generally stabilising in the evening while remaining slightly above average. Relative humidity was near average that rose slowly in the early hours, fell in the morning becoming slightly below average before easing to near average from the mid-morning. Calm winds early before light S to SW winds became SW to ESE, E to NE with some WNW to NW winds later in the morning, NNE to ENE in the afternoon with some E winds, E to NE in the early evening that became SE to NE before calm winds later in the evening with some calm winds.

Slightly warm in the early hours with the temperature stopped falling during the early hours and became generally stable during the rest of the early hours, was stable in the morning and afternoon but was variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. In the mid-afternoon the temperature eased to slightly cool before near average temperature during the rest of the afternoon that was followed by slightly warm temperature in the evening while the temperature fell a little slowly and stabilised later in the evening. Dew point fell slowly in the early hours and generally rose slowly in the morning slightly below average, then near average from the morning that fell slowly, rose in the afternoon before stable dew point in the late afternoon and early evening close to average. During the rest of the evening the dew point rose slowly close to average. Relative humidity was near average at the start of the day that became slightly below average before easing to near average in the morning, became slightly below average in the early hours, easing to near average during the rest of the afternoon. In the evening, the relative humidity was slightly below average while rising a little slowly. Mostly calm winds early with some E to SE winds, S to SW in the early morning that backed during the morning to E to ESE from the mid-morning, E to SE in the early afternoon, E to ESE from the mid-afternoon and E to SE in the evening.
• 29/1/21: A light shower in the early hours and a light few drops in the late afternoon. Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds. Warm early in the day before easing to slightly warm later in the early hours and in the early morning as the temperature fell slowly in the early hours before easing to near average from the morning. In the mid-afternoon it was slightly cool after the maximum temperature was reached in the early afternoon and fell during the rest of the afternoon. Variable temperature from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. Near average temperature from the late afternoon and became slightly warm late in the evening after stable temperature in the mid evening. Dew point was near average over the entire day that was stable from early in the day, generally fell slowly in the morning, generally stable in the afternoon, rose slightly in the early evening before becoming stable later in the evening. Relative humidity was slightly below average from early, became briefly moderately low in the early morning was near average in the morning and afternoon before becoming slightly below average from the late afternoon. Light E to SE winds from the start of the day before S to SE winds later in the early hours with some calm winds, then E to SE winds in the morning becoming E to ENE from later in the morning and ESE to ENE winds in the late afternoon. In the evening, the wind veered to S to SE in the late evening.
• 30/1/21: Partly cloudy with Cu and Sc clouds with Ac clouds in the afternoon. A brief light shower in the early hours. It was slightly warm at the start of the day and eased to near average from later in the early hours until it became slightly warm in the evening as the temperature fell slowly in the evening. The temperature was a little variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon. Stable and near average dew point early in the day, rose in the morning, fell slightly from the mid-morning, rose a little in the afternoon and became stable later in the afternoon and early in the evening before rising slowly in the evening while remaining close to average. Relative humidity was slightly below average that eased to near average in the afternoon after the relative humidity stopped falling in the late morning and rose slowly in the afternoon. In the evening, the relative humidity was slightly below average. Some light S to SW winds early in the day with calm winds generally in the early hours, then S to SW winds in the early morning, backed to ENE to ESE from the mid-morning and became E to NE from the middle of the day. In the evening, the wind became calm with some light and variable winds at times.
• 31/1/21: Cloudy periods with Cu, Sc and Ac clouds. A light shower at the start of the day before light showers in the early hours and early morning and a light to moderate brief shower later in the morning. Slightly warm early in the day as the temperature stopped falling from 3am before easing to near average in the morning. The temperature was a little variable from the mid-morning to the mid-afternoon and rose more slowly later in the morning becoming slightly cool and became generally stable in the afternoon. In the late afternoon and early evening, the temperature eased to near average as the temperature fell before becoming slightly warm later in the evening as the temperature fell more slowly later in the evening. The dew point rose early close to average, became generally stable in the morning slightly above average before falling slowly from later in the morning while easing to near average. Near average relative humidity from early before becoming slightly above average in the mid-morning and moderately high later in the morning as the relative humidity fell slowly in the morning. Relative humidity eased to slightly above average in the afternoon after the relative humidity became generally stable in the afternoon before easing to near average in the evening. Calm winds early became SSE to SW in early morning, NE to SE from mid-morning with some variable winds in the mid-morning before E to NE later in the morning and in the afternoon. Light E to SE winds in the evening with some SSW to SSE winds.
